唐荆陵致发起人的一封信：
尊敬的各位朋友，我已经重新修订了赎回选票行动的文本。感谢各位给予我如此高的信任，在不知道修订文本的情况下仍毫无保留地支持这次行动。
修订的文本给发起人和义工赋予了很大责任，务必请各位仔细研读发起文本的内容，以保证能成为一个合格的领导者。为防止发起人和义工因受迫害或者威胁不能正常履行职责，我设置了一个简单的程序。请各位注意。
今天，本行动正式公开发起，请通过一切正当而可能的途径发布和传播。为此，我起草了一份新闻通稿并翻译为英文，请发给国内外所有重要媒体。
在我看来，本次行动一经发起，按照设置的基本程序，它将具备自己的生命力，而不依赖于诸位和我。虽然如此，仍然要警惕的是将这个行动视为是我或者其他发起人的私人产物的可悲看法。这不是公民的襟怀。

唤醒沉睡选票 推动公正选举

今天（2006年9月30日），由任畹町等15位公民发起的八毛钱赎回选票行动正式开始。这15位公民公开声明他们将不登记为自己所在选区的选民，不去领取选票，也不通过任何方式参与本次换届选举的投票，并呼吁广大选民参与到这个行动中来，或者附条件地放弃投票。
2006
年至2007年是中华人民共和国成立以来的第一次全国性整体换届选举。为唤醒中国选民的权利意识，本次行动呼吁那些因为冷漠或不了解而没有参与投票、或者决定不参加投票以及特意投废票、投弃权票的选民们，仿照这发起的15位公民，将自己的选举和投票声明发给义工，参与到行动中来，而不是无声无息地消极放弃自己珍贵的选举权利。
另一方面，针对竞选中广泛存在的几乎不受制约的黑箱操作和对独立候选人的不公平的打压，我们呼吁独立候选人及其支持者也参与到行动中来。根据行动指引，这类选民可以通过向义工公布自己的选票上的内容，从而可以公布自己的实际得票结果，以消解黑箱作业和不公平打压的作用，进而营造更公平的竞选环境。由于本次行动不以任何特定人士的当选和去职为目标，它将不受选举的地域限制。
本次行动持续至2006-2007年度的全国换届结束时自动终止。

Campaign to Promote Fair Election

The "￥0.8 to Redeem Ballots" Campaign initiated by REN Wanding and 15 other
PRC citizens is to launch today (September 30, 2006). These 16 citizens claimed
that they will not register in their constituency, draw their ballots, nor
participate in the impending nation-wide re-election of government officials in
any other form. They called on the public to join them in the campaign, or
disclaim their votes.
The year 2006-2007 will witness a first nation-wide re-election of
government officials of various levels since the establishment of the PRC
regime. To raise the awareness of Chinese people on their rights, this campaign
calls upon those who will not vote due to political indifference and lack of
understanding，or those who are to cast invalid ballots or disclaim their votes
in any other form to join the action, rather than passively and quietly giving
up their rights.
On the other hand, seeing the rampant, uncontrolled under-the-table
black-box operations, and unfair practice done to independent candidate, we
invite independent candidates and their supporters to join us in this action.
According to the action guidelines, the voters can show their ballots to the
campaign's volunteer workers and calculate the actual votes the candidate they
support win, in a move to guard against unfair practices. This campaign does not
serve the interests of any particular individual candidate and will not be
differentiated by regions or areas. The campaign will continue through the end
of the re-election.
