One of them, a very well known German journalist, quoted the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung from 12 years ago, which featured on the front page the prison manuscript of Liao Yiwu, who spent four years in prison for writing and publicizing his poem “The Massacre”. Liao Yiwu’s prison manuscripts include the first drafts of the novels Ants of Reincarnation, Love in the Age of Mao, Underground Poets in the Age of Deng, and Love Songs in the Gulag. After 12 years of incubation and countless public and private exhibitions and debates, the work was finally supported by the federal government and will be collected by the German National Literature Archive in Malbach. Once completed, the exiled poet and writer Liao Yiwu will be the first non-German speaker to be admitted to this literary archive.<\/div>\n
