{"id":26561,"date":"2012-04-04T12:34:00","date_gmt":"2012-04-04T12:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/127.0.0.1:10081\/?p=26561 "},"modified":"2012-04-04T12:34:00","modified_gmt":"2012-04-04T12:34:00","slug":"26561-revision-v1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/minzhuzhongguo.org\/?p=26561","title":{"rendered":"Group of a Dozen Nobel Laureates Push for Dialogue between Dalai Lama and Beijing"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; \">Twelve Nobel laureates including South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu have written to China&#8217;s president urging him to open talks with the Dalai Lama after a series of self-immolations by Tibetans.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div><\/div><div><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; \">More than 30 Tibetans &#8211; many of them Buddhist monks and nuns &#8211; have set themselves alight in China&#8217;s Tibetan-inhabited areas since the start of March 2011 to protest Beijing&#8217;s rule.<\/span><\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div><\/div><div><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; \">&#8220;The international community is concerned by the drastic expressions of resentment by the people of Tibet through self-immolation,&#8221; read the letter, addressed to President Hu Jintao.<\/span><\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div><\/div><div><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; \">&#8220;The Chinese government should hear their voices, understand their grievances and find a non-violent solution. That solution is offered by our friend and brother His Holiness the Dalai Lama,&#8221; it added.<\/span><\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div><\/div><div><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; \">&#8220;We strongly urge the Chinese government to seize the opportunity he provides for a meaningful dialogue.
