{"id":45157,"date":"2015-01-31T20:15:00","date_gmt":"2015-01-31T20:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/127.0.0.1:10081\/?p=45157 "},"modified":"2015-01-31T20:15:00","modified_gmt":"2015-01-31T20:15:00","slug":"45157-revision-v1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/minzhuzhongguo.org\/?p=45157","title":{"rendered":"Top Beijing Rights Lawyer\\&#8217;s License Seized in Detention Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><\/div><div>2015-01-30<\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mzzg.org\/UploadCenter\/ArticlePics\/2015\/5\/2015131image.jpg\" alt=\"2015131image.jpg (305&#215;219)\" \/><br \/><div><\/div><div>Beijing-based lawyer Wang Yu in an undated photo.<\/div><div>Photo courtesy of Wang Yu&#8217;s microblog<\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>Authorities in the northern Chinese province of Hebei have confiscated the business license of a prominent human rights lawyer after she tried to visit a client in a police-run detention center.<\/div><div><\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>Beijing-based attorney Wang Yu&#8217;s license allowing her access to judicial and law-enforcement facilities as a practicing lawyer was taken from her by staff at the Zaoqiang County Detention Center, she told RFA.<\/div><div><\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>Wang was also briefly detained at the detention center after she tried to file a lawsuit against police for forcing a confession from her client.<\/div><div><\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>&#8220;I went to see my client, who told me that during the investigations, the police had forced him to confess, and that he had been badly beaten up and locked in a black jail,&#8221; she said.<\/div><div><\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>&#8220;So I wrote up a statement and got the client to sign it. Some policemen came along while I was doing this and saw what I was writing, and went off and reported it.&#8221;<\/div><div><\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>Police told Wang she couldn&#8217;t take the document with her, and took it to show detention center chief Li Maosheng, she said.<\/div><div><\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>&#8220;They wouldn&#8217;t let me leave, and locked both of the doors.
