{"id":48227,"date":"2015-07-18T23:10:00","date_gmt":"2015-07-18T23:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/127.0.0.1:10081\/?p=48227 "},"modified":"2015-07-18T23:10:00","modified_gmt":"2015-07-18T23:10:00","slug":"48227-revision-v1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/minzhuzhongguo.org\/?p=48227","title":{"rendered":"China tour arrests were \\&#8217;misunderstanding over documentary\\&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><\/div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mzzg.org\/UploadCenter\/ArticlePics\/2015\/29\/2015718_84357069_police_china.jpg\" alt=\"2015718_84357069_police_china.jpg (660&#215;371)\" \/><br \/><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>Police building in Ordos, Inner Mongolia<\/div><div>The tour group were arrested by police at Ordos airport in Inner Mongolia on 10 July<\/div><div><\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>A misunderstanding about a documentary members of a tour to China watched in their hotel led to their arrests, says a spokesman for two of the party.<\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>Three Britons arrived home on Saturday &#8211; the last of 20 UK, South African and Indian nationals to be deported since their detention in Inner Mongolia.<\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>They are said to have watched a film about Mongol warlord Genghis Khan to help them get the most out of the trip.<\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>But Chinese officials mistook it for a terrorist video, the spokesman claimed.<\/div><div>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/div><div>Police in the city of Ordos have declined to comment on the case but no charges were brought.<\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>The UK embassy in Beijing confirmed that the three remaining Britons had now been flown home after spending a week at a detention centre.<\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>The tour group members were arrested by police on 10 July at the airport in Ordos.<\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>They were said to have been 30 days into a 47-day visit to the sites of ancient China.<\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>Six Britons and five South Africans were released and deported on 15 July. The remaining nine tourists &#8211; the three Britons, two dual UK-South African citizens, three South Africans and an Indian national &#8211; were freed two days later.<\/div><div>Hoosain Jacobs, 74, and his wife Tahira, 68, from west London, were among the three Britons to return on Saturday.<\/div><div>&nbsp;<\/div><div>Jump media playerMedia player helpOut of media player.
