    We are elated by the news that Dr. Gao will be coming to Washington to receive the 2007 Vital Voices Global Women\u2019s Leadership Award for Human Rights. In a phone conversation on Friday with Vital Voices\u2019 Human Rights Program Director, Wenchi Yu Perkins, Dr Gao expressed her joy and desire to accept the award in person, and we are pleased that it now appears her wish will be realized. Dr. Gao has made great contributions to combating HIV\/AIDS in China. She is truly a \u201cvital voice\u201d \u2013 a world-recognized leader on behalf of an issue critically important to China and the world community. We look forward to welcoming Dr. Gao to Washington next month.
