It is a sunny and hot day today.
\nYesterday I completed the task of buying drugs. I was so relieved that I overslept until about 9:00 am this morning.
\nThe apartment buildings where I live were built in the mid-1990s. There are nearly 100 buildings, more than 2,000 families gathered in one big complex, no management office, four-way traffic everywhere. Now it is blocked, leaving only one exit, guarded by security.
\nThe average person’s premonition is always far from the truth. Most of the time, ordinary people live with this unreliable intuition. However, life can be puzzling and full of mystery if you believe in its existence.
\nSpeaking of premonitions, as early as the trade war, some people began to be worried about the future. I used to go for a walk in Binjiang Park, now called Hankou Jiangtan Park, where every day some older men get together to talk about national affairs. When the trade war between the United States and China started, some people got sand in their hearts. For example, an old guy stored more than 400 pounds of rice at home, in case of an accident, saying that, “According to his family’s population, the rice would be ready to eat by next year, that is, April 2020, and that the rice would not have worms in cold weather.” I felt a little ridiculous, but I was also very depressed. I’m not interested in the country’s future. I can’t help but be concerned about my future life. I think that if we keep going like this, 2020 will not be a good year.
\nIt’s surprising how many things come back to haunt me. On December 10, 2019, my mother suddenly became ill. According to her later recollection, she was frying vegetables on the stove at noon when she suddenly felt chill all over her body, followed by weakness, dizziness, vomiting, diarrhea, and pain in her limbs. The first time I saw her, I thought she had a bad cold. I gave her some cold medicine and let her rest in bed. She started to have a fever at night and took a few more pills.<\/p>\n

After the usual series of tests, everything was normal except for the potassium deficiency, and the index was only 2.7. We thought it would not be a big problem, so we gave her some anti-inflammatory injections, potassium supplements, and prescribed medicine. I figured she would be fine. However, the doctor asked her to be hospitalized immediately, shouting that it would kill her if she was not hospitalized! We didn’t know what was going on, so we hurriedly went through the procedure. She was admitted to the emergency room of the internal medicine department. After that my mother continued to have a high fever. The chief of the emergency medicine department, a female doctor, who her hospital admonished for telling the truth about Covid-19, was very concerned about my mother. The other doctors were also very nervous, whispering, “Another one with a fever, what the hell is going on?” The other doctors were very nervous and whispered, “Another one with a fever?” Afterward, my mother had a nucleic acid test, which was an exception at the time, and the results came back a few days later but it was negative.
\nMy mother was hospitalized on Saturday. The following Monday, we saw the Central Hospital filled with patients early in the morning, most of them with fever. Strangely enough, on Tuesday, the number of patients dropped back to normal. In any case, my mother was treated in time and was discharged from the hospital. After that, my father started to have a fever, chills, body aches, and dry cough, probably because of the infection.
