It was cloudy, the forecast was for moderate rain, but it didn’t fall
\nafter all, and it was hot and muggy.
\nThe weather in Wuhan can be simply divided into cold days and hot
\ndays. Cold days are cloudy, and hot days are hot and muggy. It’s cold to
\nthe bone and hot to the point that people can’t breathe. In winter, the
\nnortherners feel that Wuhan’s weather is even colder than the northern
\narea of China, and in summer, the city is like a giant furnace. Today in
\nWuhan, there is a stuffy atmosphere.
\nPeople of Wuhan have a relatively hot temper, love to quarrel, and
\nthey like to hold as a group to exclude and bully the outsiders. That makes
\npeople feel very unreasonable. The reputation of the Wuhan people is not
\nvery good however, this does not mean that the people of Wuhan do not
\nhave advantages. During the Xinhai Revolution and Wuchang Uprising,
\nWuhanese from all walks of life, men, women and children, spared efforts
\nto support the new army and advocate the new constitution, without fear
\nof the Qing court’s reckoning, leaving a splendid legacy in the modern
\nhistory of China and making the world to look at them. So, you can’t
\nsimply judge a place as good or bad. People and cities are specific and
\ncan’t be just categorized as good or bad.
\nThe important indicators of the outbreak notification continue to
\nbe cleared. Although there is some debate, it is explained in Fang’s diary,
\nand I believe its truthfulness. A very good friend of mine said Fang’s diary
\nwas not very impressive initially, but later the author became more serious
\nand wrote with soul. Words with soul will allow the author and the reader
\nto breathe together, to face the challenges of life together. So now Fang
\nFang’s diary has become a symbol and a landmark for the people of
\nWuhan. It is not a marginal voice as described by Hu Xijin, the editor-in\u0002chief of Global Times. The editor of Global Times sometimes comes out
\nto make things easier, making people feel sorry for him. Of course, as<\/p>\n

always, things in China are very complicated. But I agree with the writer
\nof the article who supports Fang Fang’s diary. One of the paragraphs is
\nparticularly good and reveals a certain message: “Scholars can no longer
\nbe back down and leave the future of China in the hands of the far left,
\nwho manipulate certain departments of the country in the name of the
\npublic’s willingness.” Scholars do not necessarily have to support me, but
\nthey should express their views against the far left and tell the public some
\ncommon sense. This passage reflects the harsh reality we are facing and
\nconveys the urgent call of most educated people. I think this is even more
\nimportant than the current pandemic, which will determine the fate of
\nfuture generations.
\nAnyone familiar with the history of the Cultural Revolution and the
\nhistory before it must understand the left and right concepts that mark
\nChina’s political ecology. If we use winter and summer as a comparison,
\nleftism is like the winter of Chinese politics. Whenever far leftism prevails,
\nas a cold wind sweeps through the land of China, the economy collapses,
\nand people suffer. Then the rightists will appear as a savior of the country
\nfrom falling apart. But the good times of its people did not last long. The
\nfar-left set of minds will rise again. The left and right are like a magic spell,
\nwhich makes us fall into the cycle of rising and fall, echoing the rise and
\nfall of ancient Chinese dynasties. I think this is the reason why China’s
\nfate is always so alarming and worrying. Breaking this cycle and lifting
\nthis spell will begin a true renaissance for the Chinese nation. In my
\nopinion, the so-called national rejuvenation is not about becoming the
\npowerhouse that some people are clamoring for, nor is it about
\ndetermining the world’s landscape, nor is it about accomplishing any
\nspecial mission. It is simply about bringing the nation to the normal path
\nof civilization, returning the people to common sense, and allowing every
\nChinese to work for their own goals with dignity and freedom under the
\nprotection of the law or not to work at all, of course. That’s all. In a
\nnutshell, let our country and every citizen live a normal life and let every
\nperson become an independent, autonomous, concrete person in the true<\/p>\n

sense of the word, not just a screw in a machine. But how to do that, I
\ndon’t know.
\nAs more and more people return to work in Wuhan, the Hankou
\ntrain station is being sanitized to prepare for the resumption of operations,
\nand some city buses are said to be operating soon. I think everyone in
