\u6839\u636e\u8054\u5408\u56fd\u300a\u4fdd\u62a4\u6240\u6709\u4eba\u514d\u906d\u5f3a\u8feb\u5931\u8e2a\u56fd\u9645\u516c\u7ea6\u300b\uff0c\u514d\u906d\u5f3a\u8feb\u5931\u8e2a\u662f\u4e00\u9879\u57fa\u672c\u4eba\u6743\u3002\u9ad8\u5148\u751f\u548c\u5b59\u5148\u751f\u7684\u6301\u7eed\u5931\u8e2a\u4e0d\u4ec5\u8fdd\u53cd\u4e86\u4e2d\u534e\u4eba\u6c11\u5171\u548c\u56fd\u7b7e\u7f72\u7684\u8054\u5408\u56fd\u300a\u7981\u6b62\u9177\u5211\u548c\u5176\u4ed6\u6b8b\u5fcd\u3001\u4e0d\u4eba\u9053\u6216\u6709\u8fb1\u4eba\u683c\u7684\u5f85\u9047\u6216\u5904\u7f5a\u516c\u7ea6\u300b\uff0c\u800c\u4e14\u4e5f\u8fdd\u53cd\u4e86\u4e2d\u534e\u4eba\u6c11\u5171\u548c\u56fd\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\u5baa\u6cd5\u548c\u6cd5\u5f8b\u3002<\/p>\n

Dear Ms. Bachelet,<\/p>\n

We are a group of people with deep concerns about the human rights situation in China. We are grateful for your efforts to promote human rights duing your current trip to China.<\/p>\n

Today we are writing to you with urgency to ask that you make a direct inquery into the fate of two prominent human rights activists, Gao Zhisheng and Sun Wenguang, and demand their immediate release from captivity.<\/p>\n

Mr. Gao Zhisheng is one of the most courageous human rights lawyers in China.\u00a0 Since 2005, he has been repeatedly detained, tortured and imprisoned by the Chinese government for promoting the rule of law in Chna, and for exercising his duties as an attorney in defense of human rights as guaranteed by Chinese law. Under house arrest, \u00a0he was abducted on August 13, 2017. Since that time, the authorities have refused to disclose his whereabouts or condition.<\/p>\n

Professor Sun Wenguang, born in 1934, is one of the most respected veteran dissidents in China. On August 2, 2018, he was arrested by police who broke into his home in Jinan, Shandong Province, while giving an interview to Voice of America. His last words before he was taken away were: \u201cI have my freedom of speech!\u201d After briefly released,\u00a0 he was again taken by police on August 15, 2018.<\/p>\n

Gao Zhisheng\u2019s family has not heard anything from him for four years and nine months, and Sun Wenguang has not been seen or heard from for three years and nine months.\u00a0We ask that\u00a0you\u00a0make a direct\u00a0inquire\u00a0into the\u00a0circumstances of these two dissidents who\u00a0are being held unlawfully, and that you demand their immediate, unconditional release.<\/p>\n

Freedom from enforced disappearance is a fundamental human right under the UN International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance . Mr.Gao and Mr.Sun\u2019s continued disappearance o not only contravenes the UN\u2019s Convention against Torure and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, to which the PRC is signator, but also violates the PRC\u2019s own constitution and laws.<\/p>\n

As High Commissioner for Human Rights in the United Nations, we look to you to speak out where few others can , and to use your position and influence to fight for the rights of these political prisoners. We thank you in advance for your efforts.<\/p>\n
