WEDNESDAY, MAR. 18, 2020

The sky was clear, and the temperature was stable and above 20
degrees Celsius. The people are all out of their winter clothes. A peach
tree planted in front of a neighborhood homeowner’s house is in full
bloom. I wonder if the owner is well after the pandemic.
The number of confirmed patients is one, and the number of
suspected cases is 0. Thus, almost everything looks good, and the signs
of a gradual re-opening are becoming increasingly evident. Starting
tomorrow, all types of businesses can apply to return to work in
accordance with the requirements notified by the Pandemic Prevention
Command. There is also news that people will be able to travel with their
electronic health codes. Furthermore, with a special I.D. card, people can
take city buses shortly. In other words, the pandemic is coming to an end,
and the government will end the state of emergency soon. Although this
was inevitable, it is something people have been waiting for.
I can see people walking on the lawn around flower beds in the
neighborhood in my apartment complex. A few young people were
playing badminton with masks. I heard a boy shouting from a distance:
“I’m suffocating.” As Wuhan has done, the situation in other provinces
and cities should be more optimistic. Still, foreign arrivals are said to be
causing some trouble in those areas. The trajectory of these arrivals is
relatively easy to control and should not pose much of a threat. The
probability of a secondary outbreak should be lower. Otherwise, it would
expose more than just the inability to prevent and control the pandemic.
Perhaps this is the main reason why some foreign staff chose to return to
their home countries. After all, the outbreak is in progress in Europe and
the United States, and it is human instinct to run away from danger.
On the other hand, their choice also relieves the burden on their
countries, which is a little reward. Some alternative interpretations and
renderings by the domestic network and media can only be described as

a kind of catharsis and a manifestation of mental distortion. Mind players
are always looking for a way to vent their frustration. The absolute fools
always think they are the smartest. That is not a bad thing. What ordinary
people gain is the loss of abnormal people.
The community center moved, unloaded, and distributed more than
a thousand pounds of rice, but hopefully, this will not last long. The
health care workers from the street health service center who visited the
homes of confirmed and suspected patients to disinfect them were girls
dressed in several layers of protective suits. During the worst period of
the early outbreak, some people who died at home were removed by them
to the funeral home for cremation. Many girls were scared out of their
wits, and it was not easy for them to survive. I hope they will finally get
the official establishment here and no longer need these temporary
workers. They deserve to be respected and treated reasonably, although
it has been challenging.
Many community center leaders have been interviewed by the
disciplinary authorities one after another, which is also a major feature
that is difficult for outsiders to understand.
The Chinese often say that human hearts are made of flesh and
blood. Understanding the human heart and the concept of human nature
determine the direction of development of a person, society, and nation.
For many years I have hoped to see myself clearly through introspection.
The Christian concept of original sin has enlightened me and given me
some insight into the cultural path of the nation. Suppose you ask anyone
around you whether human nature is good or evil, the answers will always
vary. If you say that everyone has an evil side in their heart, that everyone
is inherently a sinner, you will be met with unanimous opposition. Why
is this so? After pondering and observing for a long time, I realized that
although we all have different views on human nature, we all absolutely
believe that we must be good. They are good people, although they will
also make mistakes. However, only a momentary mistake is more deluded.

The intention is still good. This extremely divided state of mind reflects
us, and I used to be like that myself.
Rumors about the pandemic in Europe and the United States spread
like wildfire on the Internet, with rumormongers rampaging without fear.
At the same time, some rational defenses and comments were repeatedly
deleted or outright blocked.
