Sun Desheng, who was illegally detained for a year following his participation in the 2013 Southern Weekend newspaper protests, has again been tortured by jailers Xu Ruixiang and prison warden Li Wuqiang in the Guangzhou Municipal Detention Center during the lunar New Year. Sun Desheng’s four limbs are illegally shackled.
Human rights activist Guo Chunping issued a “human flesh search” call for Xu and Li. Guo said: “The two sadistic policemen have continually tortured or abetted the beating of Sun Desheng by other prisoners! Please everyone remember these two jail guards’ names!”
(Note: In January 2013, staffers at the Southern Weekend conducted a high-profile protest against state censors who watered down the paper’s editorial calling for greater respect of constitutional rights.)
