At the third anniversary of Charter 08, as a way to commemorate this historic event, we release another over 100 signatures. It is also a tribute to imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize laureate Liu Xiaobo and his under-surveillance wife Liu Xia, and a tribute to all who lost freedom because of their free speeches and their advocates for democracy.

The year of 2001, the democracy movement has swept the Arab world and shocked the world, and profoundly changed the pattern of the world. The Chinese people have also been greatly encouraged for their pursuit of democracy and freedom. No matter what kind of lessens the China authorities learned from the Arab Spring and changed their policies and strategies to control people, one thing they should be clear: the people’s yearning for freedom and democracy can not be stopped, nor is any violence can destroy people’s power. The only wise choice is to follow the democracy trend. The new year is approaching, the CPC will have a new generation of leaders. We hope they will have enough political wisdom to understand this, taking initiative on political reform to ease social conflicts, and create conditions for national reconciliation. Otherwise, the protest storm created by the social conflicts and inequality will eventually come, and sweep away any resistance. History has proved and will prove it again.

The total number of signatures has now reached 12,777. Please continue to send your signature to xianzhang2008xianzhang@inbox.com or xianzhang2008@aol.com.  You may also visit http://www.2008xianzhang.info/  for more Charter 08 related information.
