Beijing, China – The 18th CPC National Congress was held on November 8 in Beijing. Major Chinese media reported the opening ceremony and discussions of all delegations, including President Hu Jintao and 8 other members of Politburo Standing Committee. Wen’s news was only addressed with Tianjin delegation, no details of his participation reported.
 
On CCTV’s “New Network”, the program extended an hour on Thursday night, the news addressed all members’ speech and discussion from Politburo Standing Committee but Primer Wen Jiabo didn’t appear in the news.
 
Tianjin Daily reported Primer Wen Jiabao’s participation with Tianjin delegation and published pictures of him with staffs. The article made a detailed report on municipal officials from Tianjin City and their speech while no more details given on Wen.
 
On October 26, New York Times reported that Wen and his family held up to USD $2.7 billion of assets. Although there was no suspicion of Wen’s corruption, it is still a shocking fact that Wen’s mother, wife, son and other relatives have a huge amount of wealth. Wen’s lawyer respond later to the report and denied the content. Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post said Beijing has launched an investigation regarding to the article upon the request from Wen Jiabao.
 
At 4pm on November 9, state media Xinhua News was authorized to publish Wen’s speech at a discussion with Tianjin delegation.
