Beijing, China – A blogger in Beijing was arrested for his false information and joke posted on Twitter. Zhai Xiaobing, 36, was confirmed taken custody and detained for over 10 days on November 17. It is reported that Zhai is now accused of “spreading false terrorist information.”
Liu Yanping, an assistant of Chinese artist Aiweiwei said Zhai was taken away from his home on November 7, and is now under detention in Miyun County near Beijing.
Zhai’s twitter message was a joke to many others, but the authorities identified the message contained harmful information and even led to terrorism. Zhai’s detention concerned many bloggers like him, those who used to enjoy writing political jokes. FMN
