Canyu.Org Continues its Operation Infinitely
The website Canyu.org suffered a serious attack at 21:15pm on January 21, 2014 ( Beijing time ) . The hackers logged in as “bjgcn” and issued an article entitled “Website Canyu.org will be closed permanently! ” The article said : “Due to some special issues, the management decided to close Canyu.org permanently after internal discussions”. When volunteers found out Canyu was attacked, they deleted the article posted by hackers.
The editorial team of Canyu.org announces that they have no intention to close canyu.org. Canyu.org will continue to provide information for Chinese democracy activists, human rights defenders, and dissidents. Canyu.org will continue to report human right violations, human right defending activities, and official corruptions and other news in China.
Even though Canyu.org is currently in a very difficult situation, Canyu.org volunteers continue to report pro-democracy activities in China. There has no funding since September 2012. Canyu was funded from 2005 to September 2012 by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). Canyu.org editorial team has been trying to find funding without success so far. Even without funding, the editorial team never give up to serve the Chinese democracy movement, the civil societies and human rights defenders in China. Not only the editors are working as volunteers, the reporters from China are all working as volunteers. As always, canyu.org editors extend our sincere thanks and respects to the reporters who have provided news about citizen movements, human rights activities and official corruptions. Canyu.org’s reports have often been cited by Radio Free Asia, Voice of America and other main media.

参与网遭遇黑客攻击的声明
（参与2014年1月22日讯）2014年1月21日21点15分（北京时间），参与网遭遇黑客攻击。黑客利用本网后台“bjgcn”的账户，发出一篇题为《参与网即将永久关闭网站！》的文章称：“鉴于一些特殊情况，经过内部讨论决定！参与网 http://www.canyu.org 即将永久关闭。”参与网管理人员获知被黑客攻击之后，将这篇文章删除，并准备将“bjgcn”的账号删除。
参与网管理人员表示，近期并没有关闭参与网的打算，参与将一如既往地维持下去，将继续为中国民主人士、维权人士、异议人士服务，继续发表他们的文章，报道他们的情况。
不过，参与网目前确实存在很大的困难，没有经费支持。从2005年本网创办以来，一直获得美国国家民主基金会的资助。然而，从2012年10月1日开始，美国国家民主基金会不再资助本网。为此，参与网管理人员也曾向其他基金会寻求资助，但一直未能获得资助。
虽然没有获得基金会资助，但参与网管理人员继2012年10月起至今，仍默默以义工形式更新维持参与网站。在此，参与网向他们表示感谢。
还需要提及的是，在美国国家民主基金会资助参与网期间，海内外在参与网发表文章的作者会获得少量的人道资助性质的稿费。在参与网没能获得资助之后，虽然没有稿费，这些作者却一如既往的继续在参与发表文章，并继续支持参与。在此，参与网特别向这些作者致以诚挚的感谢与敬意！
