On Tuesday December 16, 2014, due to non-payment of back salary and demand for “equal pay for equal work,” Haifeng County, Shanwei City, Guangdong Province Longshan Middle School, Ludian County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province Number One Middle School, and Anyang City, Henan Province Vocational Middle School teachers all separately went on strike.
On the morning of December 16, 2014, more than 300 temporary teachers in Haifeng County, Shanwei City, Guangdong Province collectively went on strike. They went to the Lufeng County government headqarters to sit-in in protest and demand equal pay for equal work and that the government redress their temporary status. They continued to sit-in until late that night. On the same day, Shanwei City and Lufeng City Longshan Middle School teachers went on strike, protesting the school owing them backpay.
On the same day, because a teacher was hit and injured by a student, Ludian County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province Number One Middle School teachers collectively went on strike. Hundreds of Anyang City, Henan Province Vocational Middle School teachers went on strike. They gathered at the Anyang city government headquarters and protested the Anyang City Vocational Institute merging with the Vocational Middle School.
