Qinghai, China – According to RFA, over 1,000 students in Qianghai protest against the suppression from Chinese government on November 26, and more than 20 students were injured from beaten by police.
 
“It is believed that the protest was in response to a book published earlier in the year by the Chinese government that may have been recently given to the students. The book is critical of self-immolation protests and also belittles the use of the Tibetan language,” the London based organization Free Tibet said in a statement regarding to the protest on Monday.
 
Many students were beaten by the police during the protest and some 20 people were rushed to local hospital for further treatment, RFA said. The school is also locked down completely with securities surrounded.
On November 25 and 26, 3 more Tibetans died in self-immolations in Qinghai, Gansu and Sichuan Province. The death toll of self-immolated Tibetans has raised to 85 since 2011. There were 8 Tibetans set themselves on fire in Tongren County, Qinghai Province in November, to protest against the strict ethnic policies on Tibetans in China.
 
Due to a new “education reform and development plan (2010-2020)” in Qinghai Province, all schools in the area are required to teach classes based on Mandarin language. In october, students went on demonstrations to protest the implement of Mandarin in Tibetan schools. FMN
