MONDAY, FEB. 24, 2020

The temperature today reached a maximum of 25 degrees Celsius.
Is spring here? I see the leaves shining in the sun with crystal light ...
A loud and clear Chinese curse seems to have broken the silence that had lasted for days after the city had finally resolved its acute bed shortage at the hospital. But unfortunately, the shortage is also triggering long-standing conflicts and antagonisms between the community and its residents.
Early this morning, some residents in the area stood on the balcony and cursed the district officials, expressing their dissatisfaction with the current situation of buying food, medicine, and other daily necessities.
The city was shut down on the day before New Year's Eve on the 29th day of the lunar month, and it is customary for people to prepare sufficient and abundant food and necessities at home before the Spring Festival. That is why the residents' shopping conflicts were not prominent during the period after the city lockdown. That left ample time for the government to coordinate the materials' deployment, and a smooth transition was not impossible. However, this does not seem to be the case. In the eyes of some leaders, I am afraid that keeping everyone at home to cut off the infection ultimately is the only way to reassure the leadership of their power. If that is the case, it is a highly frightening and potentially catastrophic, inhuman idea, and indeed, this is one side thinking. In a city of more than 10 million people, even at this extreme and exceptional time, it is not only necessary to keep the city running as normally as possible, but it is also a fundamental prerequisite for the smooth running of the pandemic prevention operation. Without a clear understanding of this, "We are a blind man riding a blind horse in the middle of the night."
At present, residents have difficulties purchasing food, patients with severe chronic diseases have problems seeking medical treatment, low-

income families are in an unsustainable situation, and the plight of large and small private entrepreneurs, in particular, is obvious. Of course, it is necessary to mend the fence after the sheep runs away, but how can one understand why the fence is always being repaired. Don't we know how much damage and loss such a mentality will cause to the public?
Today, the government issued Circular 18, which negates and corrects Circular 17.
One elderly couple reported that their children were not around and had not eaten vegetables at home for several days. They did not participate in group purchases through WeChat, so the community service center sent them some vegetables. The community center gave out gift packs of pandemic prevention items to residents in need. Of course, the quantity was limited. The netizens sent vegetables and disinfection items to some elderly widows and orphans in need. A pregnant woman ready to labor not allowed to the hospital by a cadre who watched the gate. People said that the cadre in charge of the gate was very serious; about his job; even the emperor could not go out if he were on duty. I think he is sick. Some retired residents have run out of cash in their hands, and the bank is not open. What they have is a bank card. What can they do?
A fever patient somehow managed to escape from the hospital. There is also a fever patient who has not been able to get into the hospital, and so on.
It seems that we can never get rid of the fate of "crossing the river by touching the stones."
On the way to work, I saw a small grocery store quietly operating, so I rushed to buy a bag of rice, two bags of salt, and a roll of paper. In such an extraordinary time, some people are taking every opportunity to save themselves. Some are waiting for the government's policy to resettle them. But, of course, some don't worry about anything because someone will bring everything to their door.

As an unimportant figure in society, I sincerely hope that the grocery store can continue to open. If the streetlights suddenly go out, I hope their windows are still with light……
